System Booster (a.k.a System Booster 2009) is a rogue performance optimizer – a fake optimizer, which enters the system by using the Zlob trojan, or by way of manual download. This parasite tries to trick the user into purchasing it’s “licensed version” by providing him with disinformation pertaining to the state of his system. Once inside and active, System Booster will flood the user with popups and fake system notifications, supposedly to inform him that the system’s performance is terrible, and thus needs a boost from System Booster. While pretty much any system could use a performance boost, System Booster is in no way the program to provide it. The trick, of course, is that System Booster costs quite a bit of money.
